Art Therapy For Adults

I deliver art therapy for adults workshops as stand-alone sessions for small groups of up to 12 people. You don’t have to be an artist to take part or need any specific skills.  Art therapy for beginners or experienced artists is never about creating great art.  I use art therapy for mental health and emotional well-being enhancement.  Art therapy workshops are experiential. You will learn about the impact of the art therapy activities through your experience of engaging in the activities. Materials for the activities for the art therapy workshops are provided.

Who are these art therapy sessions for?

These art therapy workshops are for anyone over 18yrs who would like to find out more about how to use art therapy techniques for their own personal development and mental well-being. These workshops are also for people who work in professions that involve supporting people to look after their mental well-being. People come to the workshops to discover how art therapy techniques can be used for problem-solving, creative exploration, self-expression, stress reduction and mood enhancement.

What Happens in an Art Therapy Session?

I conduct many art therapy activities individually, sometimes in pairs or small groups. After each art therapy exercise, we give people time to feedback about what they have experienced. Sharing information in the group is voluntary. We acknowledge some people are more comfortable sharing with a group than others. There is no obligation to disclose any personal information.

I deliver two different types of art therapy workshop

Art therapy workshops – Themed

Here we use art therapy to gain personal insight for growth overcoming obstacles. We structure these art therapy workshops with a specific aim. In these workshops, we will give you guidance to use creative art therapy activities as a way to imaginatively explore a specific concept, emotion, theme or issue.

Art therapy workshops – Free creative expression

In free creative expression art therapy workshops, we hold space purely for creative self-expression. These art therapy workshops provide a space for people to be free and spontaneous.  We give people materials and allow time to be creative in whatever ways that they choose to. Free creative self-expression doesn’t require analysis or a pre-defined goal. In these workshops, people discover the benefits gained from free creative self-expression within a group environment.

What Are The Benefits of Art Therapy?

These are therapeutic art therapy sessions effective for individual personal development. The group art therapy workshops are not personal therapy sessions. We do not explore individual personal issues in-depth during these workshops.
